Survivor: Fiji - Last Ditch Effort Doesn’t Save Alex

Alex Angarita

So, we are close to the end of the 14th installment of the Survivor series, and the alliance of six (Earl, Stacy, Cassandra, Yau-Man, Boo and Dreamz) seemed determined to stick together. This left only Alex, who once seemed very much in control of the game, quite vulnerable.

First, at the reward challenge, in which the contestants had to rip meat off of a large piece of hanging pork using only their teeth and deposit the meat onto a plate (it was as disgusting as anything the folks at Fear Factor could have come up with), it was clear that Alex was the odd man out. The extremely annoying Boo won the challenge and, along with Yau-Man and Dreamz, received a helicopter ride and a day of relaxation away from camp. The trio also received letters from home, but that did not change the fact that Boo was starting to wear on the nerves of his tribe mates. It even seemed like the other five would turn on him and vote him off before Alex.

Alas, as often happens in the game of Survivor, the guy with the possible target on his back ended up winning immunity. Basically, that challenge consisted of digging in the sand and then climbing a pole and the first to the top….well, you get the idea. So, with Boo safe, Alex knew he was in trouble. The man’s a lawyer and a pretty good talker so I think he almost convinced 3 or 4 players to vote off Yau-Man, but, in the end, the six voted as one, and Alex is history.

Next week is when things should get interesting. There are few things more fun than watching what happens when a large alliance is left. Suddenly those that have been sleepwalking through the game may have to put out a little effort. Cassandra - I saw you just sitting in the sand. You weren’t digging. You weren’t even trying. Let’s see if that strategy works for you next week.

Who Will Be the First of the Remaining Six to Have Their Flame Extinguished?
