Dear Gina,

Fame. It is a fickle friend, indeed. One minute you’re belting out “The Boys Are Back in Town” on national television while Simon leers at your cleavage, the next you’re being dragged out of a Florida bar after throwing a glass at another patron. Seems far fetched, I know. But you don’t need to take my word for it. Just ask season 4 American Idol finalist, Jessica Sierra, who was arrested last weekend in Tampa. Not only is Miss Sierra being charged with assault, but drug possession as well.

Now, Gina, you actually made it a little further in the competition than Jess, but she definitely was your rocker-chick counterpart of her season. Now, honey, not everyone on Idol goes on to successful recording careers. You may. You may not. I don’t know. But, if I may, let me give you just a little helpful advice: there were 3 notable rocker chicks in Idol history that come to mind. First, Miss Sierra, whose footsteps you clearly do not want to follow. Second, you have your Nikki McKibbon from season 1. She made it further on the show than any of the others, but where is she now? I haven’t a clue. So, obviously you do not want to model your post Idol career on her. So who’s left? Let me help you out - season 2….big voice….big attitude (in a non-offensive way). That’s right - Kimberly Caldwell. Kimmie may not have a hit on the charts, but she does have a steady gig over at the TV Guide Channel hosting Idol Chat.

Hey, missy, do not stick out that tongue ring at me! There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting a nice little correspondence job that keeps you in the public eye until the right singing gig comes along. Bottom line, Gina, I like you. You got a raw deal because of the whole Sanjaya mess, and I just want to help you out. Whether or not you take my advice, well that’s up to you. Admittedly, I’ve never been in your shoes. Maybe you should get in touch with Jessica. She’s currently out on bail.
