Although I’m not a follower of American Idol, I’ve been casually observing the Sanjaya movement for some time now as a regular listener of Howard Stern. At first I disregarded it, but now I think it is getting too big to ignore. It’s even spread to former contestants!
A former American Idol contestant, Paris Bennett, called in to a Chicago radio show this morning, the “Tone E Fly Morning Show,” and said that she and a few other former contestants have joined the Sanjaya movement. She called the show “a joke” and said,
We want to see him [Sanjaya] win because it’ll kind of prove that ‘American Idol’ is kind of losing its taste,” says Bennett, “it kinda isn’t going for talent anymore and more for popularity.
I have to admit that I’m getting interested in all of this. There really is something to it now. It’s very interesting to observe the power a group of people can have. I hope that Howard Stern will book this girl because she has lots of potential to talk trash of American Idol.
