It’s a tough time to be a network news person. NBC is not renewing Stone Phillips‘ contract when it runs out in June, and the network is not going to replace him. Phillips has been the host of Dateline NBC since its inception in 1992. Jane Pauley was his co-host from 1992-2003, and from 2003 Ann Curry has held the title. Tough break for Phillips. Back in the day, seniority counted for something. Actually it still does over at 60 Minutes where the average time served is about 40 years and the median age is approximately 85.
