Rosie Not Returning to the View

Rosie O’Donnell

Days after her verbal scuffle with co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck, it has been announced that Rosie O’Donnell will be vacating her chair on the View three weeks early. Though Ro has hinted at this on her blog, I confess myself disappointed. Yes, I admit that I am sad that there will be no more Rosie to look forward to in the mornings. I was never a huge O’Donnell fan, but she actually made the View worth watching.

Granted, we all knew she was leaving in June, but this early exit just doesn’t sit well with me. It feels like she’s running away, like she’s conceding defeat in the wake of that heated disagreement with Sweet Little Elizabeth. Is she really going to let that ultra-conservative rhetoric Hasselbeck spouts chase her away? I expected more. One of the reasons O’Donnell is such a polarizing pop culture figure is because she is loud and outspoken, she never censors herself, and whether you agree with her sentiments, it is refreshing to hear someone speak their mind consistently. This exit just feels like she is scurrying away, and whatever I may have thought of her before, she certainly did not seem like the scurrying type.

I will miss Rosie. She & Joy were the reasons I watched The View. The show will not be as entertaining without Rosie.
