There are reports that Paul McCartney and Heather Mills may have called a truce. They were seen on Friday having dinner at a restaurant in London with their daughter, Beatrice. Supposedly, McCartney has settled on a divorce payment of almost $200 million. This is a much larger amount than was recently reported. In return, Heather must not attempt to continue growing her career in the States, thus preventing her from moving Beatrice across the pond. Don’t laugh at this! She is hot off of Dancing with the Stars and could possibly go on to bigger and better things like the Surreal Life or a celebrity version of the Amazing Race. (As we saw this season, they don’t mind physically-challenged people).
Although Paul McCartney stated that he doesn’t read the constant press coverage of the situation, he contributed to a positive story that was published by the Guardian over the weekend. He told the newspaper that throughout his divorce, he’s been leaning on his family.
I’m going through great struggles, but I’m feeling pretty good. I have a lot of good support, particularly from my family. In difficult moments like this, it’s when a loving family shines through.
“There is a tunnel and there is a light and I will get there. In the meantime I really enjoy my work and my family. I see people worse off than me, so I can put it in perspective.”
Unfortunately, he has to postpone his world tour for his new album Memory Almost Full, which is being released on June 5, until after the divorce is finalized. McCartney said,
I’m going to do bits and pieces to support the album, but it won’t be a major tour until possibly next year, and that’s down to personal circumstances.”
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper:
Paul shares custody with Beatrice. If he went on tour it would be impossible to look after his child. And if the divorce is not finalized Heather could argue she should get some of the profits because the album was inspired by Paul’s time with her.”
Poor, Paul. He can’t even go on tour for fear he’ll have to hand over more money to that woman. What an advertisement for pre-nups if I ever saw one!
