The Sun reported that Madonna was in Malawi today to adopt another child, three-year-old Grace, but the head of the Consul Orphanage, where Grace was rumored to have lived, says absolutely not. Yacinta Chapomba said,

We have no Grace here. We don’t know how the rumour started, but our day care centres don’t encourage adoption. We never allow any of our children to be adopted.

Probably the rumour started about Grace because of our partnership with Madonna after she funded the construction of this centre.

Madonna’s spokeperson, Liz Rosenberg, also denied that she is adopting.

She is overseeing the building of a children’s healthcare centre. She is absolutely not adopting another baby.

Still, why wouldn’t an orphanage encourage adoption, especially if a Mommy Warbucks came to whisk a lucky child away? Are the kids tied up and tortured and told that no one is ever going to adopt them?

She brought her previously adopted baby, David, along so that he can meet his biological father.
