Shame on radio stations for unofficially banning Pink’s new song “Dear Mr. President” and even preventing her from talking about it just because it actually voices real thoughts and opinions. (Read lyrics here.) Thankfully, Jimmy Kimmel fought for giving Pink the opportunity to perform this song on his show, and, guess what, there aren’t any backlashes that I hear of. Pink was very appreciative to Kimmel:
I have to thank you so much (because) you’re the only show that’s not afraid of letting me sing Dear Mr. President… I can’t even speak about it on radio.
It’s a questioning song. I think that’s one of my more intelligent songs… These are my questions, they’re not theoretical. I think they’re questions that a lot of people have and we could probably use some answers.
I hope others gain a little backbone and start supporting art and free speech. This isn’t Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, folks.
