Elton John Celebrates with a Leather Ball

Black Party 2007

Elton John had quite a 60th Birthday Extravaganza in New York last weekend. Not only did he celebrate at legendary New York venues, Madison Square Garden and The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, but also, rumor has it, at the annual infamous S&M event, Black Party, held at Roseland Ballroom. Ben Widdicombe reports in his Gatecrasher column at the New York Daily News:

He was spotted around 3 a.m. holding court in a small back room with a new pal, described as “a very tall and muscular African-American man wearing black leather.”

But our source - who, like Mr. J., was sober - says his visit failed to make much of a stir among the revelers: “Everyone was so messed up on drugs or drink they could have seen anything and hardly noticed or cared.”

After just watching the first season of “Queer as Folk” and the Leather Ball episode, my imagination is going to all kinds of crazy places, with Sir Elton all tied up.
