You would think that after winning an Oscar for playing Queen Elizabeth II, Helen Mirren would jump at the chance to dine with the reclusive royal. However, when an invitation to Buckingham Palace was sent to the actress to attend a private dinner party with Her Royal Highness, a distressed Ms. Mirren had to decline due to the fact that she was filming in the States. There are rumors that the Palace is none too pleased at the rebuff.
I am sure that Helen would rather eat with the queen than shoot a film in South Dakota, but she is a pro and knows that sometimes work comes first. If the Queen wants to spend an evening with a celeb that would happily call in sick to the set, she may want to consider inviting Lindsay Lohan over.
