Of course I assumed that Courtney Love was back to pimping out her deceased husband. Come on, admit it, you did, too. Who can blame us when we’re always getting bombarded with reports of her selling his stuff and his music? This time, though, she says that she’s not involved in those UK Doc Marten ads. In case you don’t know what I’m’ talking about, Dr. Martens has used the images of dead musicians, Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain, Sid Vicious from The Sex Pistols, Joe Strummer from The Clash, and Joey Ramone from The Ramones, to sell shoes. Courtney’s rep told People,
“Courtney had no idea this was taking place and would never have approved such a use. She thinks it’s outrageous that a company is allowed to commercially gain from such a despicable use of her husband’s picture.
“It does appear that in the UK what Dr. Martens has done is allowed. Courtney did not, and would not, approve of such a use of Kurt’s name and likeness.”
Well, if they can get away with it in the UK, more power to them. Pretty good advertising campaign if you ask me. Here are the rest of the pictures.
