Ever since My So Called Life, I’ve had an affection for Claire Danes. Sure, I realize that I identified with the character, Angela Chase, the angry teenager, but still Danes herself resonated with me.
Danes has chosen interesting roles in her career following the short-lived series. She played Juliet in the modern-day Romeo and Juliet, was in the fantastic little film Igby Goes Down, and was lucky enough to be picked by Steven Martin to play Mirabelle in the movie adaptation of Martin’s book Shopgirl.
Now, Danes is taking her career to another level by playing Eliza Doolittle in George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion starting in September on Broadway. Danes will play a Cockney girl who becomes the subject of a bet trying to turn her into a refined lady. Sounds interesting, and I’d love to her hear pull off the accent.
