If you went to see Spider-Man 3 over the weekend, you weren’t alone. The latest installment of the popular franchise grossed over $135 million in its opening weekend, beating former record holder, 2006’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. This really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone as the Tobey Maguire / Kirsten Dunst films have always done exceptionally well, and this was one of the most highly anticipated films of the summer movie season. It will be interesting to see if Peter Parker will still hold the record by summer’s end, though. Don’t forget that this summer is full of huge movie releases. Some of the most popular film series will be giving us their latest offerings. We get to look forward to the newest Shrek, Harry Potter, and Die Hard movies, and Johnny Depp will even get to try to get the box-office title back with a new Pirates. This one is called At Worlds End. Whew! There are going to be lots of Raisinettes consumed over the next few months!
