Believe it or not, there is an alive and well Academy Award winner who is unsure of the detriments of smoking, and he would be Jeremy Irons. He doesn’t think that he will die from his nicotine addiction, and he’s not sure about all of the hubbub around these days that smoking is bad. He says,
Personally, I am unconvinced that smoking kills you. I think genetics takes a more important role.
He also seems more than a little perturbed that Britain is banning smoking in public places in July and is concerned about haunts losing their character without smoking. He recently went to the Savoy Hotel in London and discovered that they have already banned smoking so he plans to stay elsewhere next time. The only problem is that this ban will be pretty comprehensive over the UK so where can he go to light up? Maybe he should just light up at home and not kill himself in the privacy of his home.
